Alcántara is one of the few Spanish sculptors who still carries out direct carving. He has had several individual exhibitions, mainly in Spain, France, Portugal and China. He has also participated in group shows that have been held in different places such as Madrid, Murcia, Barcelona, Paris, Alcalá de Henares, Antwerp and Lisbon.
After participating in several Madrid Biennials, his works have been exhibited in various national and foreign galleries and salons such as: Galeria E. Navarro in Madrid, Cuartel del Conde-Duque (Madrid), Provincial Exhibition Rooms and Provincial Palace of Jaén, São Bento Lisboa Gallery, Antonio Prates Lisboa Gallery, La Fenêtre Paris Gallery, Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Shanghai Sculpture Space (Shanghai, China), etc.
From an expressionist beginning it has evolved towards a primitivist sculpture with a more traditional treatment of sculpture and an increase in the iconographic repertoire, which understands the artistic work as an object of spirituality.
